LOCKOUT
Lockout is the isolation of energy from the system (machine, equipment, or process ) which physically locks the system in a safe mode. To avoid the unexpected start-up or release of hazardous energy (e.g. electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.) which could cause harm to people, damage to property, and loss to environment/process (I.e. electrocution, burns, crushing, cutting, lacerating, amputating, or fracturing body parts, and others.
